No new gigs at the moment

2007 seems already too good to be true!
Christmastime went nice and easy, we all took a long breath and relaxed
a while - some of us spent peaceful times in beloved Helsinki, some
slided in places icy and covered with bright white snow, some visited
the bottom of the sea to greet the magnificent fish & coral
gardens. Before taking off to holidays we agreed about a very important
thing: we will release our first album during year 2007. Now that it's
said in public, we have no excuses! Not that we'd have them anyway - on
the contrary, there's so many new great songs in our hands that it's
about time to give them the treatment and credit they deserve and bring
them to their full bloom via actual recordings.
We still don't know the gory details, like who's gonna put it out or
who'll be the producer or blah blah..., but the sessions will
definitely take place in May 2007.
However, that does not mean YOU have to wait for new stuff too long -
we'll but some new songs as MP3's here and to
www.myspace.com/shakehelsinki soon and of course you'll be able to hear
the novelties in our gigs during the spring.
Since, oh boy, this spring is full of action, fun and vision!
At the end of the last year we signed an booking deal with superior
Fullsteam Agency. Our agency mates, one of the greatest, hottest and
coolest Finnish bands at the moment, DAMN SEAGULLS are celebrating
their brand new album SOUL POLITICS with a compact Finnish tour and
SHAKE is proud and extremely happy to announce that we will be part of
the tour party, together with a new band Downstairs!

Thanks for everyone who were seeing and hearing us in Semifinal gig –
thank you Lovegrapes and Kevin for inviting us to play with you, and
the last but not least, big thanks goes to the superior Juha Kuoppala
for visiting in the band & playing those keys like a dream!
Wow, that was really something! You people were lovely – without the doubt one of the best Shake gigs so far.
As some of you have probably heard and even seen (in altogether 5 gigs), we have a new drummer in the band.
Tero Sundell started his music studies in Kuopio this fall. He
is living there now, so rehearsing and playing gigs with Shake is
practically impossible for him. We wish incredible amount of luck,
strength and good vibes to our one of a kind, crazy original drummer –
beware, Kuopio!
The new guy Risto Järvelin played already two gigs with us
last spring, when Tero had some errands to run elsewhere. That was fun
and felt right already then, so it is quite natural that we will
continue with him. More info about Risto coming soon to BAND-section.

Okidoki, we’re back in business!

Vacations are over and energetic autumn follows. At least one gig is coming up soon, in good old rock’n’roll hideout Semifinal, House of Love with Kevin and LoveGrapes on Saturday 23rd of September.
But HEY! The new SHAKE demo with 10 (!!!) new songs is ready! The plan is to add something for your ears to enjoy to our myspace-page soon…I’m sorry to tell you that we are NOT gonna release any of these 10 songs (not yet, anyway). Now our main focus with the demo is to locate a proper partner who will release our debut album. However, in the meanwhile you’ll hear the songs at least in our gigs and who knows, maybe your friend, lover or the loner next door is working in a cool label, where we’re just about to send some material…Ask her or him to burn you a copy?
But seriously - thanks for sticking with us, there’s a lot more to come…and you’ll be the first to know!

Long-awaited summer is finally here and lot of action coming up! We’re going to a studio soon, to record bunch of new songs….it’s a little bit secret affair, but you’ll hear soon enough what’s going on and who will finally release Shake debut album! It’ll be worth your patience and that’s a promise! Some new gigs might occur during the summer, so please check out the gig listings every now and then. New gig coming up!

Shake will play one more show this year on friday 25th of November. The place is Club Liberte in 3. Linja, Helsinki. Greetings and thanks to all of you nice people who keep writing to our guestbook. Please keep in touch! As promised, we've been putting the news songs together for the forthcoming debut album. Guaranteed groovy Shake-pop'n'rock'n'roll coming right to your ears some time soon. Arska from Levy-yhtiö has been the great "trigger" for Shake (big thanks Big A!) as long as we've existed, but the new album will not be a Levy-yhtiö release. Who's then? We'll let you know as soon as we know! Be good, lots of luv to all of you

Thanks for everyone who came to our gigs during the summer – your support means a world to us. Special greetings to Karkkila, the Sunset Beach Party’s pre-party in Hotelli Oiva was incredibly nice! But it’s been really great everywhere, considering the fact that we’ve been around only for a year. It’s just about Shake’s birthday during the next gigs (Oulu & Turku) so please come, celebrate and rock & roll with us!
So, two more shows to go and then we’ll probably lock ourselves to the rehearsal place and come out with great new tunes. We’ll be updating this site of course as regularly as possible. In the meanwhile, hang out with good spirits and gentle ghosts and have fun!

The new EP ”Remember” out today! NOW!

The new Shake EP “Remember” is officially released today! Again the pressing is fairly limited, so hurry up to your nearest record store!
The new EP includes three summer hits:

The band will also sell both the old and new EP’s in gigs – see you in Gloria next Friday! Seems that Shake is playing as the last band, since very unfortunately Zacharius Carls Group had to cancel their gig.

Brand new Shake EP out soon!

It’s almost may 2005, and the situation is following: our debut EP is practically sold out (though, the band still has few copies, which will be sold in gigs). So we figured – gotta keep it rolling and release some more music for the soundtrack of forthcoming, long-awaited summer!
New Shake EP Remember will be in stores 18th of May! The little record is released again by Levy-yhtiö and produced by Pekka Laine. It includes three songs of great summer pop’n’roll, just the perfect amount of music to listen and take to your hearts before our festival gigs. This time we had some guest musicians in sessions: we want to thank Tommi Södö from Zacharius Carls Group for doing huge favors for us – he played few gigs with us while Lasse wasn’t able to play since his hand was injured, AND, he played all bass tracks in new EP. Thank you precious T! Also many many thanks to Jonna Tervomaa for superior duet and background singing, and Juha Kuoppala for soft’n’moody Fender Rhodes lines.
Ok – you’ll hear from us soon, in the meanwhile here are the new gig dates for the summer. We hope to see you here and there, anywhere and everywhere!

The tour with Zacharius Carls Group (and occasionally with Ronnie Starr too) is almost over. Ten great gigs behind us - only grande finale Tavastia to go next wednesday, 2.3. This is an open invitation - all you good folks out there who love great music, cold beer and warm party, come to celebrate with us! It's been a hell of a three weeks, MAN we've had so much fun! It's strange how quickly a big bunch of people can become so close and how doing gigs together and driving around the country starts to feel like it's the only life we ever had. What a great, fortunate life!
Thanks for all the folks who came to our gigs and wrote to different websites & our guestbook about us & everything. Please keep in touch! We've only released one EP and considering the fact the respond was the most encouraging and warm everywhere where went.
Thank you Zacharius & Ronnie guys - the strenght we lost in worn out mornings came always back 1000000 times with the non-stop laughter in the evenings! See you all on Wednesday!
